PS/IS 338 is a 107,000-square-foot public school construction project developed for the New York City School Construction Authority (SCA) and built by E.W. Howell Construction Group. Designed by Purcell Everett Architects, the five-story educational facility accommodates 742 students from Pre-K through eighth grade and includes 37 classrooms, a gymnasium, gymatorium, cafeteria, kitchen, and other student support spaces. Today, the building houses PS 889 and MS 890, serving elementary and middle school students in Brooklyn.

Giaquinto Masonry contributed to the construction of the building’s masonry envelope, which combines light-colored brick, cast stone accents, and clean geometric massing to create a contemporary institutional appearance. Large punched window openings, projecting masonry volumes, and carefully detailed façade transitions help define the academic and assembly components of the building while bringing natural light into interior learning spaces.
